Skating on Frozen Lipno Lake

Skating on the frozen surface of Lipno Lake is one of the most popular winter activities, attracting thousands of visitors from not just across the Czech Republic, but from abroad as well. Lipno Lake is the largest body of water in the Czech Republic, and it is frozen from December to March. Once the ice reaches a safe thickness of approximately 18 cm, a regularly maintained skating track measuring almost 11 km is built between the towns of Lipno nad Vltavou and Frymburk. There is also the 15-km “Hornoplánská” track. The tracks are connected to create a 38-km route that leads from Lipno nad Vltavou all the way to Pernek.
